1.0 PRODUCT
The proposed project is to set up a sunflower oil mill factory. Edible oils are medium of cooking. Sunflower oil is the medium of cooking in almost the eastern part of African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. Sunflower oil is pressed from sunflower seeds.
2.0 LOCATION
The proposed project contemplates to set up a new oil mill at Ulemo village, 35 km from Singida town, Tanzania. The proposed project enjoys, 1) easy availability of raw material 2) quick access to main road 3) Sources of power 4) availability of transport and communication systems 5) availability of skilled and un skilled labour and 6) free from environmental hazards like water logging and salinity and floods.
3.0 MARKET POTENTIAL
Oil Milling is an age – old activity which has gone through many phases of development. Mini oil mill is a concept meant to cater to the local market unlike the large mills with huge capacities and catering to the regional markets. The idea is to supply to local market which is large enough to be served by this mill due to its capacity. Mainly customers to be Passengers, passers by using Dar es Salaam Road Via Singida Tanzania and the Singida residents and neighbors. The oil will be consumed by both vegeterians and non vegetarians for food preparations. Both groups’ food preparations need edible oils like sunflower. The oil seed production in these states is growing year after year. This is due to probably most people would prefer natural cooking oils which have no side effects and are cholesterol free like products of sunflower seed. Therefore, there is a good scope for oil milling.
4.0 WHY IS THE PRODUCT CONSUMED
Cooking oil is an important part of food preparations. Most of The African foods, Tanzania in particular, need oil during their preparations. So it is an everyday requirement needed by every house. Consumption of edible oils is increasing daily. The East African Countries import large quantities of the same every day. The product has no side effects when consumed and is free of cholesterol that is why it attracts many people to opt for it.

There is a variety of industries produce cooking oil in Tanzania. Some are vegetables, fats and others are the edible oils like sunflower which are produced in the region. Other edible oils are like groundnuts, maize and cotton. In Singida were the mill will be located all industries produce sunflower oil. These industries pack a product of 5 liters and above.
